Troubleshoot service-email authentication and delivery
Separate network reachability, authentication, provider acceptance, and inbox arrival.
- Platform sender-management access or help from the operator.
Step-by-step walkthrough
- 01
Use the mail provider’s documented SMTP hostname and TLS port. A website’s main domain may point to an application server that does not run SMTP.
- 02
Verify encrypted connectivity and certificate validation before entering credentials. Do not disable certificate checks to make a failing connection appear successful.
- 03
Use the saved sender settings to send a controlled test to an owned mailbox. Confirm the sender identity is allowed by the provider.
- 04
Inspect the application’s delivery history and the destination’s spam or quarantine folders. Authentication success is not evidence that a particular message was accepted or delivered.
- 05
If delivery is marked uncertain or outcome unknown, check the provider and mailbox before issuing another message. Avoid repeated sends that could create confusing duplicate invitations.
Expected result
The failing stage is identified without exposing credentials.
Important details
Never paste SMTP passwords or full credential-bearing URLs into a support ticket or public diagnostic output.
