Duplicate a rule without activating the copy
Reuse a published definition or saved draft as a separate starting point.
- Automation-management permission.
Step-by-step walkthrough
- 01
Choose Duplicate on an existing rule. Select the current published definition or saved draft and inspect the preview.
- 02
Give the copy a unique, meaningful name. Choose Create draft copy to save it as a separate unpublished rule.
- 03
Edit the new draft to match the new purpose. Changing the copy does not change the source rule.
- 04
Test and publish the copy separately. If you cancel the editor after creating the copy, the newly saved draft still exists.
A closer look at the interface

Automation templates
- 1Choose the template matching the intended event.
- 2Review conditions and recipients before saving.
- 3Publish is a separate action after the draft is ready.
Expected result
A separate unpublished draft ready for review.
Important details
Execution history, counters, and publication state are not copied. Refresh the source if a conflict indicates it changed while you were reviewing.
