Compare and restore an automation version
Recover a published definition into a draft without immediately changing live behavior.
- An eligible rule with published history and management permission.
Step-by-step walkthrough
- 01
Open the rule’s Version history. Select a published version and compare its event, schedule, conditions, and actions with the saved draft.
- 02
Read the difference labels carefully. Current rule metadata and current teammate or team names are not historical snapshots of every setting.
- 03
Choose Restore version to draft only when you intend to replace the current draft definition. Live publication state is not changed by the restore alone.
- 04
Reopen and review the restored draft. Validate references and test the behavior, then Publish separately if you want to activate it.
A closer look at the interface

- 1Choose the published version to inspect.
- 2Compare event, conditions, and actions.
- 3Restore to draft; review and publish separately.
Expected result
A reviewed draft based on a previous published definition.
Important details
Stale comparisons can be rejected. Refresh and review again rather than retrying blindly. Archived rules cannot use the same restore path.
